01THE STORY

Grew up
on the roof.

In 1992 Dylan’s father, Jan Sobczak, put the family name on a roofing company. That’s where the trade in this family starts, and it’s the only date on this website that goes back that far.

Dylan grew up inside it. He started where everyone starts — on the clean-up crew, picking nails out of the grass — and worked his way through every job on the site, weekends and summers, until roofing was simply the thing he knew how to do. There was no point at which he decided to become a roofer. He was already one.

He moved to Missouri in 2017 and spent the next stretch of his career with one of the larger roofing outfits in the state. That’s a genuinely useful education: you learn how a big shop runs, what a professional install actually looks like at volume — and exactly what a homeowner ends up paying for the branch office, the sales team and the advertising.

Then he took the family name back out and rebranded it as Sobczak Exteriors, here in St. Louis. The shop is small deliberately. Estimates come from Dylan or Eric, his rep — a two-person sales side, not a call centre — and Dylan runs the crews and stands behind the work afterwards. That’s the entire model, and it only works if he stays close to home — which is why he doesn’t cross the river and doesn’t chase storms into other states.

A family roofing name since 1992 — not thirty years in St. Louis. Sobczak Exteriors is a recent arrival in this metro and says so. The generation of trade behind it is the real claim; pretending the company has been on this side of the river since the nineties would be the easy lie.

03HOW HE WORKS

Small shop,
on purpose.

A short chain, start to finish

You deal with Dylan or Eric, his rep, on the estimate — and Dylan runs the crew on your roof. There is no call centre and nobody who disappears after the contract is signed, which means there is also nobody to blame when something needs sorting out.

The estimate is the estimate

Measured on the roof, written down, and handed to you to think about. No expiring discount, no price that drops the moment you stand up, no laminated presentation at your kitchen table.

In writing, before you commit

Local, not passing through

Out-of-state crews follow hail into a metro, sign as many roofs as they can and are gone before anyone needs the warranty. Dylan lives here. The 10-year workmanship warranty is only worth something if the person who wrote it is still around.

Only what he does well

Sloped, shingled residential roofs, plus siding and gutters. No flat roofs, no commercial. If that's what you have, you'll hear it on the phone instead of losing an afternoon to a visit that was never going anywhere.
